WWII Through Young European Eyes

Online Exhibition

The project & Exhibition

This online exhibition is part of the Liberation Route Europe – Active Remembrance Youth Programme (LRE-ARYP), a European initiative that places young people at the centre of how the memory of the Second World War is explored and shared today. Bringing together more than 250 participants aged 18–25 from across Europe, the programme invited a new generation to engage directly with WWII history through international exchanges, site visits, and encounters with historians, educators, and places of memory.

At the heart of the project lies the idea of active remembrance. Rather than approaching history as something distant, participants travelled along the Liberation Route Europe and became co-creators of memory themselves. Through research, interviews, reflection, and collaboration, they produced podcasts, videos, and curated stories that reflect multiple perspectives on the war, its consequences, and its relevance for Europe today. This exhibition brings together a selection of those contributions.
