About the network
The LRE Youth Ambassadors Network is a long-term initiative supported by Erasmus+, connecting young people across Europe who are interested in WWII remembrance, history education and active civic engagement.
Participation is free of charge and open to young people aged 15 to 30 living in the European Union. No prior knowledge or specific experience is required. The network is designed as an inclusive space where participants can learn, exchange ideas, build friendships and reflect on the lessons of the past in relation to the future they want to help shape.
Starting in the second half of 2026, Youth Ambassadors will be invited to take part in online and in-person activities, including workshops, study visits, youth forums, digital storytelling sessions and opportunities to contribute to educational projects.

You can apply to become a Youth Ambassador if you are between 15 and 30 years old and live in a European Union country. You do not need to have previous experience in history, remembrance or youth projects. We are looking for motivated young people who are curious, open to exchange and interested in learning with others.
The network welcomes participants from different backgrounds and experiences. It is especially committed to creating opportunities for young people who may have had fewer chances to take part in international activities before.
Youth Ambassadors will be invited to take part in a range of activities between 2026 and 2028, combining international meetings, online training, study visits and youth-led events.
What do stories about WWII tell about us?
Reflecting on the past helps us understand the present and shape the future. Over the next two years, you will have the opportunity to take part in a series of online and in-person sessions that will build a European network of stories and storytellers centred on the Second World War.
Through interactive online training sessions, we will explore what war stories mean today, how to tell them effectively and how they can strengthen engagement, leadership and citizenship.
Each cycle consists of three participatory online sessions of approximately two hours. Together, we will create new stories that connect heritage with contemporary democratic values, and leave a digital footprint for the future.
A study trip for the most engaged Youth Ambassadors who wish to take a more active role in its development.
The programme will include guided site visits with expert educators to locations such as the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial and the Documentation Center for the History of National Socialism in Munich, alongside interactive workshops and activities linking historical lessons to contemporary issues.

The event will feature panels, workshops and networking sessions, bringing together young people from different countries across Europe This is your opportunity to share ideas, exchange perspectives, and actively contribute to shaping the upcoming Youth Remembrance Summit. The forum is designed as a space for dialogue, collaboration and co-creation.
This is the culminating event of the Youth Ambassadors Network. You will come together with other participants to share experiences, present results of your work, and take part in activities focused on historical research, digital storytelling, public speaking and working with stakeholders. The summit also includes discussions with experts and opportunities to showcase what the network has achieved together.
An international youth exchange exploring the history of persecution and concentration camps in the Northern Netherlands and Northern Germany. Participants will visit Memorial Centre Kamp Westerbork, Memorial Esterwegen and Bergen-Belsen Memorial, with guided tours and opportunities to meet eyewitnesses.
A two-day programme with workshops, discussions and guided visits exploring Wrocław’s WWII and post-war heritage. The forum will also create space to reflect on how history connects to today’s world, including current conflicts and challenges such as disinformation.
