The exchange program will offer young history enthusiasts the opportunity to explore shared and differing experiences of the Second World War and its aftermath in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Participants will engage in a variety of creative projects, including video production, podcast creation, and historical storytelling, enabling them to explore and express the human stories behind the conflict.
As the exchange travels through places marked by war, occupation, resistance, and post-war transformation, participants will gain invaluable insights into the war’s legacy. This program is not just about learning history; it aims to bring it to life through modern media. Working collaboratively, participants will share perspectives and develop their skills in storytelling and digital media.
Whether interviewing locals with personal stories, capturing the essence of historical sites on film, or recording narratives and interviews for podcasts, participants will contribute to preserving these vital memories for future generations. The program will be an educational adventure and part of a living history that continues to resonate today.
On the first day of the exchange, participants will begin exploring the historical context of the Second World War in Kraków. They will visit key sites and museums related to the city’s wartime experiences and post-liberation transformation. Throughout the day, participants will also have time to start creating historical content inspired by what they see and learn.
On the second day, participants will cross into the Czech Republic by private bus, with a stop at Zámeček Memorial, the site of the former Nazi execution ground where nearly 200 people lost their lives resisting oppression during the Heydrich terror. In the evening, the group will arrive in Prague.
Participants will explore Prague’s WWII history through visits to important historical sites, learning about resistance, uprisings, and the city’s liberation. In the afternoon, they will take part in an experiential workshop that encourages them to step into the shoes of people faced with difficult life and ethical choices during the war.
On the final day, participants will continue exploring Prague’s World War II history while focusing on completing their videos, podcasts, and historical writings inspired by the sites they have visited. Time will be dedicated to reflection and content creation. In the afternoon, the exchange will conclude with departures.
